This release is worth celebrating!!

As we have described in detail in previous release notes, we have put tremendous effort into eliminating outdated Silverlight technology and rebuilding all existing functionality and modules with state of the art technology.

Therefore, we are extremely proud to announce that this project is fully completed and our software is technologically more then ever ready for our customer challenges!

In addition, we have made other improvements that assists Onventis employees supporting customers by achieving their digitization goals. All are described below.

OCR improvements

In this release we have migrated the underlying OCR infrastructure to the Azure platform. This results in the OCR to be even more stable and less susceptible to disturbances and maintenance. Leaning on the outstanding performances and up-time Azure provides, we can ensure the same performance you are used to, using the Onventis Invoice Processing application itself.

Changes Approval

From now on, it is possible to easily adjust the so called ‘Changes Approval’ module, according your specific wishes. For example, if an extra approval is needed, or an existing step within the workflow is in need to be adjusted, our consultants now have all the tools to realise this. The technical approach is adjusted in a way that this module can be configured just as freely as other transactional modules, such as invoices and purchase orders.

Coffeescript –> Typescript

The most important change in this release is the official transfer from Coffeescript to Typescript as leading programming language withing the Onventis Invoice Processing application. Benefits of Typescript are among other things:

• TypeScript is used for both server-side and client-side web application.
• It is an open-source, dynamic, and high-level programming language.
• The language is developed and maintained by Microsoft
• It is a superset of Javascript, which means it understands all of JavaScript’s syntax and capabilities, while adding additional features
• A better browser compatibility

Part of this transfer is building an internal converter tool, to translate and migrate all existing Coffeescript code to Typescript. Another important part was making sure that in-house expertise concerning Typescript was and is available, as well as updating all internal technical documentation.

As a result a more stable scripting functionality can be expected, but also enabling the application to deal with more large-scale scripting sets is to be seen as a win.
