Support for Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 to be retired June 30, 2020

Microsoft Edge was released in 2015 to replace Internet Explorer as the default web browser in Microsoft Windows. While modern web standards have evolved since then, Internet Explorer 11, which was first introduced in 2013, has not received major updates since then to support these standards.

Although Internet Explorer is still a component of the current Windows operating system for compatibility reasons, Microsoft actively discouraged the use of Internet Explorer as the default web browser in 2019 because it does not meet the requirements of modern web applications.

In order to take advantage of modern web standards and to continue offering our customers new functions and the best possible user experience on our platform, Onventis will discontinue support for Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 as of June 30, 2020.

In case you still use the old Internet Explorer 11, we have prepared the following questions and answers to help you prepare for the change:

When will the planned change take place?

Support for Internet Explorer 11 will end on June 30, 2020.

Which applications will be affected by this change?

The end of support for Internet Explorer 11 will affect all applications on the Onventis Open Procurement Network, including, but not limited to:

  • Onventis Buyer (formerly: TradeCore) including OCI punchout (inbound) from customer systems (e.g. SAP)
  • eProc.III including OCI punchout (inbound) from customer systems (e.g. SAP)
  • Onventis Supplier Portal
  • Onventis Supplier Search
  • Links to third-party solutions and websites, such as external authentication systems (Microsoft AD FS / SAML), OCI punchout shops, Amazon Business, S&T Profiler and others*

* The browser support of third-party solutions and websites is the responsibility of the respective software vendor.
Please consult these vendors to find out about their browser support.

What does it mean for the Onventis applications that support for Internet Explorer 11 ends?

As of July 1, 2020, all problems that may occur when using the Onventis applications and that are specific to Internet Explorer 11 will no longer be supported by our Customer Service.

Application errors that are also specific to Internet Explorer 11 will not be resolved.

Onventis will also begin to introduce new functionalities and services that may not be compatible with this browser.

How will my organization and my business partners be affected by this change?

To prepare for this change, make sure that users within your organization switch to a supported modern browser such as Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, or Mozilla Firefox.

When switching to Microsoft Edge, please note that we recommend using at least version 41 (EdgeHTML 16) of this browser to provide a full user experience and prevent possible technical issues.
All browsers supported by Onventis are listed on this page.

We also recommend that you forward this information to your suppliers and customers who work on the Onventis platform.
Systems or business partners that are connected to Onventis solely via interfaces (e.g. SAP, OpenTrans, E-Mail) and do not access the Onventis applications via a Web browser are not affected by this change.
